The Noninvasive Ventilation (NIV) Project in Tumu, Ghana presented at the British Thoracic Society’s Annual Meeting in London, UK
Virtue Foundation donated two noninvasive ventilators and on-site training to provide respiratory support for children acutely unwell with respiratory failure. Childhood mortality in Tumu is high with one out of seven not reaching a fifth birthday. The NIV Project is an attempt to reduce this and early results are encouraging. Rosie Balfour Lynn and Dr. Joan LaRovere presented data from this project on December 5th, 2013 at the British Thoracic Society’s Annual Meeting in London, UK
