Virtue Foundation Returns to Cambodia

As part of a continued effort to support Virtue Foundation work in Cambodia, the Foundation’s Director of Global Health and International Programming Dr. Ebby Elahi traveled to Phnom Penh to conduct screenings and surgeries alongside local physicians and medical staff.

Virtue Foundation first partnered with doctors in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 2004, prompting a multi-year project helping to address oculoplastic, orbital, and reconstructive surgical care, particularly in underserved populations. As part of these efforts, victims of acid violence were also treated, including Yem and Sopham, a mother and daughter who were badly burned by acid and ultimately treated in NY with help of Virtue Foundation.

Dr. Elahi was able to spend his time in Cambodia this September reconnecting with staff, reassessing the needs of the local communities, and conducting several surgeries and didactic teaching sessions.
