Cornea Transplant Team Travels to Mongolia to Conduct Surgeries and Train Local Doctors

Several volunteer surgeons and medical professionals traveled to Mongolia on behalf of Virtue Foundation to carry out work in the area of cornea transplant surgery. For several days, the Virtue Foundation volunteers worked alongside local staff at First Central Hospital in Ulaanbaatar to screen and teach local staff about the intricate nature of cornea transplant surgery. The volunteers traveled from the US with corneas ready to be transplanted, and thus were able to restore the vision of several underserved patients.

The Virtue Foundation cornea team was also present for the 90th Anniversary of Ophthalmology Service in Mongolia and were able to use the event as an opportunity to teach and conduct wet labs with the local staff.
