Virtue Foundation Concludes 2025 with the Ghana Healthcare Initiative

A volunteer medical team traveled to Ghana to provide complex surgeries, clinical training, and essential supplies across northern facilities. The mission strengthened partnerships, expanded capacity for local providers, and supported ongoing efforts that will continue to grow through 2026 and future programs.

In November 2025, the Virtue Foundation concluded the year with its annual Surgical and Teaching Mission to Ghana. A multidisciplinary team of seven volunteer doctors, surgeons, and nurses from the United States, Austria, and Ghana traveled to northwest Ghana to support underserved communities through healthcare delivery and educational programs.

The team performed nearly 20 surgeries, many of them complex reconstructive procedures for pediatric burn victims. With expertise in orthopedic surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and plastic surgery, the group provided a wide range of care to patients in need. The team also welcomed two Ghanaian physicians, an obstetrics and gynecology specialist and a house officer, whose participation helped strengthen the Foundation’s growing partnerships within the country.

Donations of medical supplies and equipment were distributed to several healthcare facilities across northern Ghana, including Tumu Municipal Hospital, Upper West Regional Hospital, Gwollu District Hospital, and The Bank Hospital in Accra.

Education and skills transfer remained a central focus of the mission. Through lectures, bedside teaching, and collaborative surgeries, team members worked closely with local doctors, nurses, and midwives in Wa to build clinical capacity and strengthen ongoing patient care.

The Virtue Foundation remains deeply committed to advancing these partnerships and continuing its work in Ghana throughout 2026 and beyond.
